DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WORK

The department of social work was established in 2008-09 and affiliated to Goa University. This programme introduces students to the discipline and profession of social work in general and the profession of social work in India and Goa in particular.

This programme is one of the premier programmes which aptly translates the objectives of Don Bosco Society. The Programme is very unique as it not only imparts academic knowledge, but also complements it with field work.

The curriculum ensures that students are fully equipped with skills to face the emerging challenges of the changing environment.  The management and faculty of Don Bosco College join in the efforts of mutual growth it also focuses on value based education and the holistic development of the student.

FIELD WORK PRACTICUM
The course incorporates theory and field work practicum which plays a pivotal role in the training of Social Work. The students are placed with an NGO or an agency for practical experience and application of their skills.

STREET PLAY COMPETITION

A state level Street play competition under the banner of Drishti with various themes was organized by the BSW students on 19th August 2016 where in 10 higher Secondary Colleges participated with great enthusiasm.

KUDAL VISIT

A one day field visit was organized by the department for all the students to Kudal- Maharashtra on 24th September 2016. The Students visited Bhagirat Prashtan & KONBAC

STUDENT AWARDS

Ms. Kiran Parsekar from TY BSW secured the Gold Medal at Goa University for Judo and also secured  Gold Medal at GOY Olympics in 2016.
