The Value Education committee was formed with the guidance of Sr. Alda Paes with members Alisha Dias, Emy Alex and Zamila Pacheco for the academic year. During the meeting the year’s plan was drafted. For every month a theme for reflection was selected.

TERM-I

JULY

The Don Bosco College welcomed the new academic year on 9th July 2016 with an Mass celebrated by the outgoing provincial Fr. Ian Figueriredo and Fr. Wilfred Fernandes. The mass highlighted the life of St. Domnic Savio.

Sessions on: Gratitude was held for all classes

AUGUST

On the theme Kindness a mass was celebrated by Fr. Wilfred Fernandes on theme of kindness and friendship on 5th August 2016. A memorial mass was also held for the soul of our departed student of SY BBA Travel & Tourism Master Jordan Picardo.

On 6th August 2016 a small programme was organized on the occasion of friendship day at the Bi- centenary hall. Group games that help build friendship among students and games for teachers was also conducted.

A portrait completion was held on 16th August to commemorate the birth of Don Bosco on the theme ‘Don Bosco the friend of the youth

On 31st August a photo college for Mothers Day held on the theme ‘Mom I Love You’ Ms. Sonia Chari from SY BCA was declared the winner on 2nd September 2016.

A mass was celebrated by Fr. Wilfred for teachers on the occasion of Teachers Day on 2nd September. Fr. Wilfred also prayed for Student Placements.

TERM-II

DECEMBER

Month of December always gets with it joy and excitement…

Every year the college Visits aged home and orphanages and offer some gifts and gets in the Christmas cheer by serenading. This year the staff and students visited:

  1. Mae De Deus Home for the aged at Saligao and the students gave them some food and groceries

  2. St. Josephs home for the aged- Siolim the students gave them some food and groceries

  3. Asilo De N.S. Dos Milagres Hospital and aged home the teachers donated 2 drums for water storage, 4 chairs and a bag of flour.

Christmas celebration competitions for students was held for all the students

Competitions such as:

  • Live crib

  • Carol singing

  • Live Christmas tree

JANUARY

The college welcomed the new-year 2017 with the annual retreats which were held from 9th January to 14th January 2017. The retreats were conducted by Faith works- Bonny and Eveth along with other priest and lay people. The retreat comprised of various sessions such as grooming discipline forgiveness etc.. the sessions were very interactive and the students really appreciated the sessions.

The newly ordained priest Fr. Roshan D’Souza and Fr. Sandesh Fernandes and Fr. Wilfred Fernandes celebrated a mass for the students of the college on 21st January.

The Feast of Don Bosco was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 31st January by Fr. Loddy Pires. Fr. Loddy reflected on the life of Don Bosco.

FEBRUARY

The Catechetical Week was held from 30th January to 4th February. Daily prayers and reflections were made on the intercom along with hymns. On various themes like shelter the naked- feed the hungry etc..

On 17th February students from FY BBA attended an All Goa Inter Collegiate ‘Value Education through Songs’ solo singing competition in English at GVM College -Ponda

The Ash Wednesday mass was celebrated in Konkani by Fr. Jesus on 1st March 2017
