Second year Mass Media students from Don Bosco College, Panaji along with their coordinator, Mithunchandra Chaudhari, visited the Sanjeevani cooperative sugar factory at Ponda on 17th March 2017 as a part of their educational field trip.

The students observed that this sugar factory is completely eco-friendly since they produce their own electricity and fuel by reusing the crushed sugarcane in the form of baggase, hence no external source of energy is required. The hay and other biodegradable waste is used as compost and sent to various other places as well.

The authorities gave details regarding the per annum production of sugar, and informed about the process of how sugar is made from sugarcane and the various machines involved in this process. They also took the students to the sugar warehouse where they had the final sugar bags ready to be transported to the markets.
