Don Bosco College Panjim Organizes Talk On Sexual Harassment At Work Place

Sexual harassment is a criminal offense and you need to stand for yourself” said, Dr. Junsa Mudras who gave a talk on ‘Sexual Harassment at Workplace’ held at Don Bosco College, Panjim-Goa on July 14, 2018. The talk was organized for the first year students of all the departments and it took place in the Bicentenary Hall of Don Bosco College.

The programme started with the welcoming of the Chief Guest Dr Mudras. She was accompanied by Manager of the College Father Joaquim Lobo and the Principal Sir Cedric Silveira, who were also present on the dais. On this occasion Father Joaquim Lobo said, “We need to change our mindset. Often, people do not change their mindset.” He also added that, “If you have your character formed well, your attitude correct, only then people will respect you. If the youth are well behaved it will lead to the building up of a better society.”

Dr Mudras started off with an energetic interactive session with the students. Here she mentioned that not only women but men can also face sexual harassment and that people are scared to talk about the same. The chief guest also displayed a Power Point Presentation to the students wherein she covered various aspects of sexual harassment-from recognition of sexual harassment, types of sexual harassment, the laws pertaining to sexual harassment and prevention of sexual harassment.

She also informed the audience about the procedure of filing a case against sexual harassment and how it proceeds. She concluded her session by quoting that, “Be safe. Do not subject to sexual violence. Stand up for yourself and raise your voice.”

The programme ended with a vote of thanks presented by Ms.Pranjali Desai, Secretary of the Women Cell and a third year student of Bachelor of Social Work.
